Donald Leslie Van Stone, 90, of Hot Springs Village, AR passed April 25, 2019.
Don the son of Leslie and Mildred Van Stone born February 4, 1929 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Morgan Park Military Academy High School and received a bachelor’s degree from the Carleton College, Northfield, MN. Following service in the US Army, Korea, he attended the University of Michigan. He married Helen Maag in January 1960, and they lived together in Littleton, Colorado, Naperville, Illinois and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Together they raised 3 children.He leaves as his legacy three children: Kerry Winkler (Chris), Jill Dupree (William), Wendy Kennedy (Thomas). He cherished his six grandchildren (Kristen, Brandon, Maria, Tara, Nathan, and Corrin) and three great grandchildren (Elliott, Maeve, and Leo). His children remember him as kind with a wonderful sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by Leslie and Mildred Van Stone (parents), Barbara Peterson (Sister), and Robert Van Stone (brother).
Donald was a software engineer until he retired. He enjoyed a round of golf with his friends and walking the village trails. He was honored to serve in the Kawanis Club of HSV, Boys and Girls Club in its infancy, Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian Church, and the HSV trails committee.A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11th, 10:00 AM at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, Hot Springs Village, AR.
